2015 Reading Challenges!

Hello my lovely BookNerds!

Okay, so I’m a bit behind in January already :/ I ended up catching the flu over the holidays and am now just getting back to 100%. It was an ugly and icky time for me and left no room for blogging or reading. I was very sad and quite near giving up on ever drinking tea again—which is very scary coming out of my thoughts! I had been downing 3 or 4 glasses a day to help ease my sore throat and coughing. But today I’m happy to say, I’m still drinking tea πŸ™‚

So needless to say, I missed out uploading some 2014 stats and setting up 2015 goals. Instead, today I’ll be letting you in on some 2015 challenges I plan to participate in and then jumping right into reviews and the normal posts for the rest of my month. I had planned out Jan. so well, that I’m a bit disappointed that I’m already behind. I was looking forward to a more planned out and organized year blogging, oh well πŸ˜‰ So, this might be the only 2015 “planning”/”goals” post I’ll do as that time has since now past and I’m hoping to get back on track with my previously planned posts πŸ™‚

TheΒ 2015 Debut Author ChallengeΒ is hosted byΒ That Artsy Reader Girl.Β The challenge requires the reader to read 12 or more middle grade, young adult and new adult debuts this year. The objective is to spread awareness of new authors this year. For more rules and information, I recommend heading over to her post about the challenge to learn more and sign up!

I had signed up for this challenge last year and was not very successful in keeping up with it. This year, however, I’m planning it out better and hoping to be able to gain access to the debuts a bit better. One of the bigger challenges for me last year was getting my hands on these debut copies. I didn’t have the funds to buy every one of the books I wanted to read and the library wasn’t always up to date with them either. However, this year I have higher hopes of being able to budget and grab some of the copies. If anyone wants to a book swap to read some of the newer debuts, let me know!

I’ve put together a GoodReads list of what I’m interested in and will most likely pick from there. Here is just a snip it of those I’m looking into πŸ™‚

TheΒ Flights of FantasyΒ reading challenge hosted byΒ Hello, Chelly and Alexa Loves Books. This challenge requires readers to read books from the Fantasy genre. There is no limit or requirement on the number of books you should read. The challenges runs through all of 2015 and there are two giveaways throughout the challenge! If you want to learn more or to sign up, check out the challenge’s Β post!Β

I’m very excited about this challenge! I used to be such a Fantasy nut and read a lot of the genre while I was in middle school and early high school. For the past few years, though, my reading habits shifted to paranormal and contemporary. I’m hoping to use this challenge to jump back into the Fantasy genre or at least attempt a jump back in πŸ˜‰ Both of the hosts listed some of their favorite Fantasy novels and I’m sure I’ll be cherry picking a few of those, but I’m also hoping to tackle some classic fantasies as well as do some exploring!

I also created a GoodReads list for this challenge as well. This list, however, is a little lacking still, but I’m hoping to add to it as the year progresses. I do have some particular books I want to read from this challenge which you can view below (yes, I’m waaayyy late on reading them ;))!

TheΒ Finishing the Series 2015 Reading Challenge is hosted byΒ Socrates’ Book Reviews. This challenge requires readers to get caught up on the series they’ve started–from finishing a series to reading up to the latest available book. No matter where you are in a current series, this challenge encourages you to finish up to the last available book. So it doesn’t matter if you have 1 or 10 books left in the series, as long as you try and finish it πŸ™‚ For more information and rules as well as to sign up, you can visit the challenge post!Β

I’m also excited for this challenge because I’m always starting series, but struggle to finish them or stay caught up. Like I started the Vampire Academy series last November and only got up to book 4 or 5. I still haven’t returned to it to finish. I’m hoping this challenge helps me push myself to get caught up on most if not all the series I’m either behind in or put aside. Trust me, there are many! Too many than I’d like, as I get distracted very easily.

The series I know I definitely want to finish are The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead, The Covenant series by Jennifer L Armentrout (especially since I’m going to ApollyCon!!), The Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, the Fallen series by Lauren Kate, and The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J. R. Ward. Β I’m sure there will be more, but these are the ones I definitely want to focus on. I have a few last books that I have to finish as well, including Sacrifice by Brigid Kemmerer and Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout. These books I’m hoping to pick up and finish rather quickly since there is only one left that I have to read.

As I read these books I’ll keep track here and via GoodReads. I hope you check out these wonderful challenges and join up if you can! I’m hoping to keep up with these this year and stay focused on completing them πŸ˜‰

Thank you for stopping by! Here’s to 2015 reading!!
